you're right, not so much ireland but i remember that tom watson, ben crenshaw, tom kite and the like used to make a "pilgrimage" to royal dornoch prior to the open.

Re: US Open
It's all the bollocks around the practice area as well.

I mean who cares about watching them warm up?

Had to look online to see if the likes of speith had made the cut, as they've literally only shown 7/8 players.

Re: US Open
the coverage has been garbage grumps, though I can't even blame sky now seeing as Fox are in charge of all the cameras. it's been shite the whole three days so far, and I can't be tucked staying up if theyre only showing certain players

Re: US Open
I know he's a legend of the game, but why are we still having to watch every shot tiger players?

Cunts 10 off the lead and I'd rather watch the shots of players under par, of which they are hardly showing any of them.

Re: US Open
I’d happily pay that to play pebble beach. Isn’t that bad when you consider what you pay for top courses here, Scotland, Dubai etc.

Re: US Open
It use to be a regular thing for a few of the top yanks to play warm up rounds on links courses in the West of Ireland before the open.

Current crew probably just go to the gym.

There are actually five courses that come under the Pebble Beach Company, but there is only one that is called Pebble Beach, so I'm not really sure what point you were trying to make.
On the Monterey peninsula there are more like a dozen of them. Probably the best golfing real estate in the world.

Re: US Open
haha, it was just before our Open & the British Seniors so he must have been preparing over there. that's a an experience, driving to that course :.)

Re: US Open
Couldn't have him through quick enough, fuck having the pressure of a pro watching you tee off with the ball going into the car park!! Ha ha

Re: US Open
grumps, i played waterville in Ireland and was about to tee off the first when tom lehman drive up with a mate on a buggy and asked if we didn't mind going before us. a very polite, friendly bloke

Re: US Open
If you're half decent and money isn't an option then probably great playing a lot of the classic courses.

Complete waste for some useless fucker like me who only has a game every few years.

Re: US Open
hen I found out it was $190 I made my excuses and left.
I regret that now, but at the time I'd never paid more than about £30 on a round.
By the way, it's $550 a round now, plus $45 and $95 for a cart or caddie.

Depends which course you play. There are 7 courses at Pebble Beach.

The course being used for the US Open, does have the green fee rate referred to by Any Old Iron.

Re: US Open
Just seen the scores.

All the pros had it right when about 90% of them said rickie Fowler is the player always most likely to choke.

Shocking round!!

Re: US Open
35 years ago I found myself walking along the beach at Carmel-by-the-sea with some friends we'd gone out to visit in San Francisco. Next thing I know I'm below a golf course. I had no idea that Pebble Beach was there. Anyway, I climbed up to the course and walked along the 10th and 9th holes and got talking to a couple of players who asked me if I fancied a round the following day. When I found out it was $190 I made my excuses and left.
I regret that now, but at the time I'd never paid more than about £30 on a round.

And it looks better in the flesh than TV.

Re: US Open
Rose definitely has the temperament and that’s partly why he’s leading right now as you say. Ironically he did lose his cool early yesterday and then went on to be the overnight leader.

It’s a seriously beautiful golf course. A very late finish on the Sunday. Monday morning will be a struggle!

Takashi Miike 12:19 Sat Jun 15
Re: US Open
also, players saying the greens aren't receptive yet I just see mcdowell stop a ball that should have goes to the back of the green. it looks pretty decent conditions, but the course will fuck you if you don't stay patient. I think it's why rose is leading

Haha! You know the old saying Miike......

Re: US Open
pagey, the wind's staying pretty calm so I'm not sure what the fuck the fat aussie cunt was on about saying it's going to get rough
